Myanmar’s “Triple Crisis”: Impact on the Pro-Democracy Movement

This essay by post-doctoral fellow Dr. Jasmin Lorch examines Myanmar’s “triple crisis” of the February 2021 military coup, the COVID-19 pandemic and the country's crippled economy and highlights the ways in which these crises are interrelated. It then moves to consider how Myanmar’s triple crisis might affect the country’s prospects for democracy and the development of democratic practices within its pro-democracy movement.
