How can I prepare for the start of my studies?
Welcome to the University of Erfurt! In order for you to be best prepared for your studies, we have created a checklist for your orientation. If you can barely wait, then why not start with the checklist "Before the Student Orientation Days". See you on campus in October!

Activate your email account
Activate your university account for Wi-Fi, E.L.V.I.S., Moodle and other services
Validating Student identity card (thoska) on campus
Download your certificate of enrolment and submit it to the health insurance provider, BAföG office, etc.
If move house: re-register your address at the citizens’ advice bureau [Please note: second home tax!]
Activate the Germany Semester Ticket for students: travel free of charge from 1 October (included in the semester contribution)

Make use of the personalised advice offered by the student advice and counselling service

If necessary, submit a BAföG application or find out about other sources of funding

Take part in a campus tour (together with tutors)
Browse the course catalogue
Draw up a timetable [together with a tutor]
If required by your subject: Take language tests for level placement

Sign up for various newsletters from the student councils
Enjoy your first lunch in the cafeteria
Have a coffee in the Glasbox, at the ‘Lecture Hall 7’ café or at the Campus-Café Hilge Take part in the parties
The student tutors accompany you at the start of your studies during the Student Orientation Days (STET). They draw up the timetable with you and give you valuable tips from everyday student life. You will get to know your personal tutors during the STET week.
During the first few weeks of lectures
- Clarify eligibility for seminars during the first two sessions
- Enter examination dates in your diary
- Register for courses by the deadline
- Get to know your mentor
- Register for university sports and language courses
- Make a note of the re-enrolment deadline for the summer term
