Part-time study can be applied for without giving reasons until the end of the "Belegfrist" (deadline) of a semester.

The application is then valid until revoked. The resumption of full-time studies must also be notified in writing to Department 1: Studies and Teaching by the end of the "Belegfrist" (deadline) of a semester at the latest.

To apply for part-time/full time studies, select the option "part-time/full time studies" under "Requests" on the student portal.

Scope of a part-time study programme / credit points

The examination regulations specify the possible number of credit points per semester as follows:  

• Bachelor: 15 - 21 credit points
• Master: 15 - 21 credit points
• Master of Education (version 2019): 15 - 21 credit points
• Master of Education (version 2012): 12 - 18 credit points
• Master of Catholic Theology: 15 - 21 credit points

If more credit points are taken for one semester, admission to the part-time programme is deemed to have been withdrawn.

The Master's thesis can only be completed as part of a part-time degree programme in the Master of Education degree programmes.

Further information

In the case of part-time study programmes, the orientation phase of the Bachelor's degree programme is not evaluated until the end of the second year of study.
