Climate change is manifesting in the form of heatwaves, droughts, and floods. The symposium will address socio-ecological transformation, the shaping of social spaces, and the challenges for infrastructure, institutions, and municipalities. It will also focus on social security, financing, distributive and intergenerational justice, as well as political strategies for creating the structural and financial conditions necessary for sustainable change.

Dr Mirjam Jenny will discuss with distinguished guests:

  • Brigitte Knopf (Founder and Director, Think Tank Zukunft KlimaSozial)
  • Katja Kipping (Managing Director and Head of Department Social Policy/Europe/Climate, German Paritätischer Wohlfahrtsverband - Gesamtverband e.V.)
  • Michael Schäfer (State Secretary and Head of Office, Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs) and
  • Marc Elxnat (Councillor for Law, Health, Education, Social Affairs, Sport and Culture, German Association of Towns and Municipalities)

tangible ways in which transformation can be envisioned not only ecologically and socially, but also put into practice!
