How did it get this far? Many people are asking themselves this question in view of the consequences of climate change, which have long since become a reality. Fear, frustration and anger are spreading, and yet there are still people who are fighting tirelessly for a better future. Like Baro Vicenta Ra Gabbert and Fabian Grischkat. They are suing the German government and loudly raising awareness against disinformation, greenwashing and shifts in discourse. In their book, the experts guide us through the escalation of the crisis, reveal who is responsible for what and show that, despite everything, there is still hope. They are now in Erfurt to present their book. All interested parties are cordially invited to attend.
The authors
Baro Vicenta Ra Gabbert, born in 1997, is a lawyer and spokesperson for socio-ecological justice at Greenpeace Germany. During her studies at Bucerius Law School in Hamburg and at the FGV in Rio de Janeiro, she founded the Climate Clinic, Germany's first student consultancy for climate and law, in which over 100 young lawyers are now involved and receive further training. As an expert, she advises the German government on issues such as intergenerational justice. SPIEGEL named her as one of the hopes of 2025.
Fabian Grischkat, born in 2000, is a presenter, "newsfluencer" and journalist. He advised companies while he was still at school. He has since turned his back on the industry and is now a columnist on politics, right-wing extremism and climate change. In 2021, Vogue named him as one of eight people "who are changing our society right now". In 2023, he sat as an expert on the Human Rights Committee of the German Bundestag.
