The Theological Research Centre at the University of Erfurt is organising the "Young Theology Forum" for the sixth time, a networking and exchange event against the backdrop of current theological and social issues.

Information from the organisers

The reason for the thematic focus of the 6th Young Theology Forum is the electoral success of the AfD in the 2024 super election year in Thuringia and in the 2025 federal election. Analyses show that this is the case: Political extremes are particularly entangled in structurally weak, rural regions.

In a specialist presentation by Dr Cynthia Freund-Möller (approx. 1.15 to 2.15 pm) and, after a coffee break from 2.15 pm to 2.30 pm, a panel discussion (from approx. 2.30 - 3.45 pm) will be discussed with experts from politics (Franziska Schubert / ZDK member, parliamentary group leader of the Alliance Greens in the Saxony state parliament and spokesperson for religious policy), science/theology (Henning Flad / BAG Church and Right-Wing Extremism) and the church (Katharina Piatza / responsible for the “Sachsensofa” project): Can church actors in particular counteract this? Are churches in particular suitable actors for community organising in rural areas (in the East)?
