Area of competence: Artificial intelligence

Description

This workshop is designed for participants with initial experience using AI who want to work more intentionally on their research workflow. Instead of presenting a fixed list of tools, we focus on analysing one’s own research process to identify where AI tools can provide meaningful support – and which requirements a tool needs to meet in an academic context.

Together, we walk through typical steps in everyday research (literature search, text work, translation, analysis) and examine how digital and AI-based tools can be integrated in a useful way. Participants will get to know different tools, but more importantly: they will learn how to research, evaluate, and integrate tools independently, without being overwhelmed by the rapidly changing tool landscape (Image tools will not be considered).

Topics included:

  • Workflow analysis: Where does effort accumulate in the research process, and where can AI realistically reduce it?
  • Criteria for research-ready AI tools: quality, transparency, sources, data handling
  • Hands-on: researching and testing tools
  • First steps toward optimising one’s individual research workflow
