Information from the organisers
In December 2021, the German Federal Government committed itself to a feminist foreign and development policy. This was intended to strengthen the rights, representation and resources of women and marginalised groups worldwide and create more diversity in ministries.
However, the political picture has changed since the early federal elections in February 2025: The new coalition of CDU/CSU and SPD no longer mentions the concept in the current coalition agreement. Germany is not an isolated case - since 2022, several countries have abandoned the label "feminist" in their foreign policy following election victories by conservative and right-wing parties.
What does this mean for the future of feminist foreign and development policy? Will the approaches disappear silently or will they continue to develop in a new form? What consequences does this have for women and marginalised groups - worldwide and here in Germany? And what can or should politics and civil society do now?
We want to explore these questions together - openly, critically and in dialogue.
