Information from the organisers
Right-wing violence in the transformation period after the fall of the Berlin Wall did not only consist of physical attacks. It was embedded in a dynamic of "othering" - the construction of "others". Yet in Thuringia, seven people died as a result of right-wing violence during this period. Only one of these victims is officially recognised by the federal government. The other fates are increasingly fading. These "blind spots" in collective memory are no coincidence, but the result of practices of repression and forgetting.
The "Blind Spots" project was launched to counteract these practices. Based on a participatory understanding of research, it aims to create spaces for dialogue that promote exchange between science, urban society and culture and integrates creative and interactive formats that broaden participation and introduce new perspectives - from storytelling cafés and readings to more informal events such as concerts, raves or art performances - right through to a histo-festival.
The project will be presented and discussed at the event. And perhaps there will also be people interested in taking part.
