Well prepared for your studies: University of Erfurt invites you to the Open Day

The University of Erfurt is once again inviting students to its annual Open Day (HIT) on Saturday, 26 April. It starts at 10 a.m. on the campus in Nordhäuser Straße. The degree programmes will be presented at various stands and in lectures until 2 pm. The programme also includes laboratory, campus and library tours as well as short lectures. The general student advice and counselling service will also be there, as will student university groups and the Studierendenwerk with tips on housing and financing.

On this day, the Music department will also be offering workshops from 12 noon to 8 p.m. where you can join in or simply listen in its rooms in Puschkinstraße. Further information can be found on the website of the department.

This year, the University of Erfurt is welcoming Dr Bernd Uwe Althaus, State Secretary in the Thuringian Ministry of Education, Science and Culture, as a special guest. From 11 a.m., he will be available to answer questions from prospective students on the subject of teaching professions in Thuringia. There will also be information on the dual study programme for the teaching profession at secondary schools which the university offered together with the Thuringian education authorities for the first time in the winter semester 2024/25. At least 50 places are being offered again this year – in Mathematics, German, English, Technology and, for the first time, Sport.

Students who would like to get to know Erfurt in all its diversity can also take part in a free guided tour of the city on this day. The meeting point is at 3 p.m. at the Till Eulenspiegel monument behind the Tourist Information Centre (Benediktsplatz 1) in the heart of the historic city centre. Registration is possible until 25 April.

The University of Erfurt is adding another offer to its Open Day this year: During the Discovery Days from 16 to 20 June, prospective students can attend selected lectures and seminars on campus. The main aim is not to understand the subject matter, but rather to gain an impression of what to "study" means.

Further information and the Open Day programme can be found at www.hit-erfurt.de. Information on the Discovery Days can be found at www.uni-erfurt.de/studium/vor-dem-studium/infoangebote/schnuppertage.
