We are delighted to welcome Prof. Dr. Leonie Wenz from the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) as a speaker at the upcoming Nexus Dialogue. In her presentation, she will share key insights into the economics of climate change: What are the social and economic costs of climate change? How do individuals and social systems respond to extreme weather and ecological stress? And what role do perception, behaviour and institutional frameworks play in overcoming these challenges?

The lecture is aimed at the IPB faculty as well as students and researchers who wish to explore the intersections of climate, behaviour, health and social change. Following the presentation, we invite you to join us for an open discussion.

About the speaker

Leonie Wenz is Professor of Environmental Economics at the Technical University Berlin and Deputy Head of the Complexity Science department at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK). Her research focuses on the societal and economic impacts of climate change. Using quantitative empirical methods, she and her team seek to assess the cost of warming and to inform sustainable development pathways. Her research has been published in Nature, Science, PNAS, The Lancet Planetary Health, and JEEM, among others.

About the series

With the Nexus Dialogues the Institute for Planetary Health Behaviour is launching a new series of lectures open to the university public at the interface of climate, health and democracy.

The aim is to discuss key future issues together and develop answers.

In the Nexus Dialogues experts share their findings on climate, health and democracy and enter into an open dialogue with the audience. This creates a lively exchange between the disciplines that we bring to our work and society.

Anyone interested in the major challenges of our time and who would like to actively participate in the dialogue between research and everyday life is cordially invited. Participation is free of charge. Registration is not required.
