Starting in the winter semester? Apply now!

If you would like to start your studies at the University of Erfurt in October 2022, i.e. in the winter semester, you should get started now: May 1 is the application start date for all Bachelor's programmes and the Magister programme in Theology. It ends on 15 September - with the exception of the degree programmes with restricted admissions (NC). For these, the application deadline is already 15 July. Those who are interested in a Master's programme at the University of Erfurt can also apply - here, too, the deadline is 15 July. Please note: For the teacher training programmes (Master of Education), the application period for the winter semester 2023/24 starts on 1 June this year.

The course offerings are extremely diverse - from A for English Studies to W for Economics. If you want to become a teacher of primary schools, secondary schools or special needs schools, you've come to the right place. But Erfurt's Communication Studies is also known far beyond the borders of the Free State - be it through the Master's in Health Communication, Global Communication or Children's and Youth Media Studies. Would you like to study in the rooms where Martin Luther already studied the liberal arts? The Faculty of Catholic Theology, with its seat in the cathedral, is the only one of its kind in the eastern German states. Those who study here breathe history and at the same time get to the bottom of modern questions from theology and society. And political science in Erfurt is also something special: the linking of various disciplines (Economics, Law and Social Sciences with Sociology and Political Science as well as Economics) is the focus here. The interdisciplinarity of the degree programme, i.e. the "interlocking" of the disciplines, provides an excellent basis for later specialisation.

For those who want to look beyond the horizon of their subject, the Studium Fundamentale offers new perspectives: This component of the Bachelor's programme, enables students to acquire a wide range of methodological skills and key competences in interdisciplinary courses and to gain career-oriented practical experience. A mentoring system also guarantees personal supervision of our students by a professor from the first semester onwards. Another exciting aspect of the Bachelor's programme in Erfurt is the so-called "two-subject Bachelor's". This means that the programme consists of two subjects, namely a major and a minor. This means that graduates are well prepared for their future careers.

For all those who are still looking for orientation in the "study jungle", the university has developed the STUDIMAT online tool for choosing a Bachelor's programme. It not only helps you find suitable combinations for your major and minor subject - STUDIMAT also provides all the important information about the chosen degree programme as well as reports on the experiences of current students and alumni.

And if you'd rather see for yourself: Just come to our Open Day on 6 May or to the subsequent Discovery Days from 8 to 12 May!

The University of Erfurt ...

... has firmly established itself in the national and international university landscape with an explicit cultural and social science profile since its re-founding in 1994. With its focus on religion, the humanities and cultural sciences, society and teacher training, it is a centrally located educational and research institution with approximately 6,000 students, around 100 professorships as well as approximately 400 academic staff and 300 administrative employees. The University of Erfurt, certified as "family-friendly", is a reform university with an attractive and sometimes unusual teaching and research profile that focuses on interdisciplinarity and addresses the major social challenges of our time. It is committed to international academic cooperation with a view to global participation in knowledge and science. On its campus near the city centre in the state capital, the University of Erfurt facilitates direct communication through its short distances and promotes intensive study and interdisciplinary research. And with its mentoring system, the "Studium Fundamentale" and an orientation on professional fields, it is also a role model for other universities.
