Carsten Feller

State Secretary for Economic Affairs, Universities, Tourism and Digital Affairs

Carsten Feller is State Secretary for Economics, Universities, Tourism and Digital Affairs at the Thuringian Ministry for Economics, Science and Digital Society. He studied history, political science and public law at Justus Liebig University Giessen. After working at the Transfer Centre Mittelhessen, he founded a PR agency and was the speaker of the Giessen Start-up and Innovation Centre. From 1997 to 2007, Carsten Feller headed the Department of University Communications and University Development at Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences. Carsten Feller has held numerous positions in organisations and associations for the promotion of science and universities. He was a founding member of the Thuringia Science Forum in 2003 and a board member until 2010, as well as deputy chairman of the Federal Association of University Press from 2004 to 2006. In 2009, he was involved in the founding of Netzwerk Wissenschaftsmanagement e.V. and was active on its board until 2014.

From 2007 to 2011, Carsten Feller held the position of Head of Administration at Fulda University of Applied Sciences. From 2007 to 2009, he completed a career-integrated MBA in Higher Education and Science Management at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences. In 2011, he became Head of Division at the Saxon State Ministry of Science and Arts. In 2014, he moved to the Ministry of Science, Research and Culture of the State of Brandenburg, where he headed the Science and Research Department and also served as Deputy State Secretary. At the beginning of March 2020, Carsten Feller was appointed State Secretary in the Thuringian Ministry for Economis Affairs, Science and Digital Society.

State Secretary Feller has been a member of the University Council of the University of Erfurt since May 2020.
