New Fellow at the Institute for Planetary Health Behaviour: Angelo Fasce

The IPB welcomes its first fellow: Dr. Angelo Fasce has been a Humboldt Fellow at the Institute for Planetary Health Behaviour (IPB) at the University of Erfurt since 1 July.

Until the end of 2026, he will be studying individual understanding of risk in the context of vaccination refusal, inappropriate antibiotic use or the use of mind-enhancing drugs.

Find out more about Angelo Fasce's research project…

Angelo Fasce is a philosopher whose research focuses on the intersection of risk perception, scientific skepticism and health behavior. In recent years, he has worked at the University of Coimbra and the Observatoire Régional de la Santé (France), among others. As part of the EU-funded JITSUVAX project, which has hubs throughout Europe, he developed practical tools for communicating with vaccine-sceptical patients - including training programs for healthcare professionals. "One of these hubs was the IPB under the direction of Prof. Dr. Cornelia Betsch. That's how I first came into contact with the University of Erfurt. I worked with Philipp Schmid (postdoc at the time) and Frederike Taubert (PhD student), which was a great experience on both a personal and professional level. I got to know the University of Erfurt as an excellent institution. The fact that I can now work here myself is a wonderful coincidence," says Dr. Angelo Fasce.

We introduce Angelo Fasce in detail in the research blog WortMelder!

We wish our fellow a good start at the institute and look forward to a fruitful collaboration. A warm welcome!

By the way...

On July 8, 2025, at noon, Angelo Fasce will present himself and his research at the Staircase Lecture in the Research Building. Under the title "How to address vaccine hesitancy? An empathetic approach", he will talk about dealing with vaccine hesitancy. Everyone is cordially invited to attend.
