The guiding question of the project is: How can the learning workshop (Lernwerkstatt) approach be integrated curricularly and didactically into the teacher training programme of the University of Erfurt, and what effects does the learning workshop didactics have on professionalisation processes in the first phase of teacher training?

The theoretical basis of this question are both approaches of systemic organisational research and development as well as professional theoretical approaches to the development of pedagogical-professional competence in teacher training. Implementation and evaluation are closely interlinked in the project. The formative evaluation aims at accompanying research of workshop seminars in the form of group discussions, interviews with students and document analyses (including learning diaries and reflection reports) as well as group discussions with lecturers. The summative evaluation is intended to determine the effect of workshop learning on pedagogical-professional action competences in the form of a quasi-experimental experimental-control group design.

The research project is part of the research network QUALITEACH.
